NOTABLE RELEVANT ENGAGEMENTS
Has acted as lead counsel in an appeal at the Federal Court in the case of United Malayan Banking Corporation Bhd v. Ernest Cheong Yong Yin [2002] 2 CLJ 413 which was a land mark case on bankruptcy proceedings pertaining to limitation of interest.
Had represented the 9 Defendants (former shareholders of Landas Utama Sdn Bhd) as lead counsel in a suit for a sum of RM 14,570,000.00 filed by one Md Hamid Merican (Plaintiff). After full trial had been conducted, the High Court dismissed the Plaintiff’s claim for the alleged professional fee and goodwill. The decision was reported in Md Hamid Merican bin Abdul Kader Merican v Abdul Razak bin Hussain & Ors [2010] 9 MLJ 1.
Had advised on various legal issues, i.e on the legality of conducting hybrid auctions and preparing all the legal documentations relating thereto.
Had advised on various aspects of the operational and legal issues including town planning, squatters matter re-development, etc.
Had prepared agreement(s) with Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur for the proposed re-development of properties owned by the later.
Had represented Faber Union (2nd Respondent) as co-counsel together with Tan Sri Dato’ Cecil Abraham in an appeal filed by owners of Faber Indah condominium. The appeal by Appellants for certiorari had been dismissed by Court of Appeal and the same was reported in Khoo Ah Imm & Ors v. Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur & Anor [1997] 3 CLJ 519.
Had acted as lead counsel for UDA Land (Central) Sdn Bhd in arbitration proceedings at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration) and successfully set aside the arbitration award at the High Court and Court of Appeal: Uda Land Sdn Bhd v. Puncak Sepakat Sdn Bhd [2021]1 MLRH 370.
Attended to the preparation of various joint venture agreements and share sale agreement for listed companies as well as for statutory corporations and individuals (including the former DYMM Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Almar hum Sultan Mahmud Al Wathiqu Billah.)
Had acted and advised UDA Holdings Berhad in various development projects and agreements in Penang and Kuala Lumpur including the Bukit Bintang City Centre project with GDV of RM8 billion.
Had reviewed, advised and amended all their sales & security documents.
Conducted training for the Land Office staff on land matters and auctions under National Land Code as well as private auctions.
Conducted training for banks and other corporate on contemporary legal issues relating to banking litigation and debt recovery.
